Circus

Time and again
I mend a broken purpose
Playing ringleader
To this one trick pony circus
But that mare’s got legs
She can gallop like the wind
The only problem is
She don’t know when to begin
She jumps for no one
And sleeps most of the time
But feed her a cup of courage
And she’ll go on a dime
We all call her Des
Short for Desdemona’s Destiny
I’m tellin’ you right now
That old horse’ll get the best of me
Testing my patience
And working me to the bone
My purpose seems worthless
I can’t do this alone
That’s why I need her encircling me
No rider at the reigns
Just the chatter of her hooves
Running against the grain
I’m the castle she’s the moat
I’m the conductor of her symphony
Naw fuck it
I’m just a loner
Looking for some sympathy
So when my tent collapses
And my circus closes its doors
It’ll be me and my one trick horsey
Trying to teach her one trick more
Desdemona’s Destiny
A simple schism in my heart
Trying to find a balance
Between real life and art
Walking that high wire
Over gators and snakes
This circus has got me thinking
About the path I want to take
There’s only one route left
To make it to the other side
Where Des’ll be waiting
To take me for another ride

Destiny’s testing me
I won’t let her get the best of me

Destiny’s testing me
I won’t let her get the best of me
