Tunnels

I guess I’ve always loved tunnels
Tacked their pictures to my walls
There’s something about those passageways
That call to my spirit
Scrawled hieroglyphics
And the echo of footsteps
Leave memories of moments
In the rhythm of their reps
Nighttime wanderings
Through forgotten aqueducts
Awaken feelings of familiarity
With games of chance and luck
This is where the shamans dwell
And where the angels roost
Where masterpieces are created
And terrible tirades loosed
I know we all forget sometimes
About the power of these caverns
In here you’ll find your shadow lurking
Some shit you’d never fathom
So when you journey to nowhere
And you find yourself stuck
I’ll toss a penny down that wishing well
to bring you a little luck
you’ll need all you can get
crawling through these dark pits
there’s gators the size of semis
ready to rip you to bits
shit did I forget to mention
that deadly third rail venom
streaming electricity through your veins
to loosen up that tension
grin and bear
while those walls scream and stare
you know there’s a reason why
your feet walk you there
so open up your eyes
and put a swagger in your step
this is spirit music
so you better come correct

music for the corridors
and music for the trains
this is spirit music
so open up your brain
music for the corridors
and music for the trains
this is spirit music
so open up your brain
